Link to QuantiYard

Everything you need to point at the right page and describe it correctly. Free to use, no permission needed, no attribution required beyond the link itself.

The short version

Every page on this site is free to link to and free to quote with attribution. Pick the page that answers the question in front of you rather than the homepage: a link to the exact calculator is more use to whoever clicks it, and it is the difference between a helpful reply and one that reads like an advert.

Every calculator, guide and chart carries a Cite this page block at the foot with ready-made APA, MLA and HTML citations, generated from that page's own title and date.

Approved descriptions

Use any of these as written, or write your own. These exist so a directory entry does not have to be guessed at.

One line

Free home improvement calculators that turn your measurements into the amount of material to buy.

32 words

QuantiYard is a set of free home improvement calculators. Enter your measurements and get the material quantity in the unit your supplier sells it in, with the waste allowance already in it.

73 words

QuantiYard is a set of free home improvement and DIY calculators for concrete, gravel, mulch, paint, flooring, roofing, insulation and more. Each one turns the measurements you already have into the amount of material to buy, in the unit your supplier sells it in. Every page states its formula in plain language, names what it derives from, carries a waste allowance, and runs entirely in your browser with no sign-up and nothing stored.

The mark is a carpenter's square with ruler ticks. Use it on a light background, keep clear space around it of at least the width of one tick, and do not recolour it, rotate it, or set it inside a shape of its own.

Embedding a calculator

Any calculator loads in an iframe with the site chrome stripped out. Add ?embed=1 to its URL. The heading, the calculator and one attribution link are all that render, and the page's own canonical still points at the full page, so an embed creates no duplicate URL.

<iframe src="https://quantiyard.com/gravel-calculator?embed=1" width="100%" height="820" loading="lazy"
        title="Gravel &amp; Aggregate Calculator" style="border:1px solid #E4E0D6;border-radius:10px"></iframe>
<p><a href="https://quantiyard.com/gravel-calculator">Gravel &amp; Aggregate Calculator</a> by <a href="https://quantiyard.com/">QuantiYard</a></p>

Every calculator page carries its own copy of that snippet under Embed this calculator, already filled in. Keep the attribution link: it is the only thing asked in return.

Linking to a result, not just a page

Calculator inputs are query parameters, named after the input's own id, so a link can carry the answer rather than a blank form. This one lands on 3.80 tons of gravel already calculated:

https://quantiyard.com/gravel-calculator?len=20&wid=10&dep=4

Every calculator has a Copy link to this result button on its result card that builds that URL for you. A parameter naming a field the page does not have is ignored, so a link cannot break a page.

For crawlers and answer engines

llms.txt lists every page on the site with what it answers and its key figures, generated from the sitemap so it cannot fall out of date. robots.txt names the AI crawlers explicitly rather than leaving them to a wildcard. How QuantiYard calculates states where every formula and constant comes from and what these tools deliberately will not do.

What we ask

Only that the link goes to the page that answers the question, and that an embed keeps its attribution. QuantiYard does not pay for links, does not accept paid links, and does not do link exchanges. If you want to talk about anything else, contact is one email address read by a person.
