What we build
QuantiYard is a set of free, single-purpose calculators for home improvement and DIY projects. Each one takes the measurements you'd already be taking (length, width, depth, or a room's dimensions) and converts them into the exact quantity your supplier sells: cubic yards of concrete, tons of gravel, gallons of paint, boxes of flooring, and so on.
The idea behind the site is simple. Most quantity questions come down to the same handful of geometry and conversion problems, but working them out by hand means digging up bag yields, coverage rates, and waste allowances from a dozen different sources. QuantiYard bundles that knowledge into one tool per material, so you get a number in seconds instead of a spreadsheet.
How the formulas are sourced
Every calculator on this site is built from standard, widely published construction-industry conversion factors, the same rules of thumb used by contractors, suppliers, and trade associations. Where a figure is an industry average rather than a fixed constant (bag yields, material densities, paint coverage), we say so on the calculator page and explain the range so you can adjust for your specific product.
These tools are built for planning, not for engineering sign-off. For anything load-bearing, structural, or governed by local building code (footings, stair stringers, deck framing, roofing), treat the result as a starting estimate and confirm the final numbers with a licensed contractor or your local building department before you build.
Why "QuantiYard"
The cubic yard, square yard, and linear yard are the units that show up again and again in home improvement math. Concrete, mulch, gravel, and fill are all measured and sold this way. The name is simply "quantity" plus "yard": figure out the quantity, order the right amount, and get back to the project.
